Faquarl set aside the pits, one by one. There is no use for peach pits in cooking. The heart of them held nothing by woody fibre and thorny amygdalin, waiting to meet the human stomach to set free its deadly passenger of cyanide. There is no tell-tale whiff of bitter almonds or acrid taste to warn the unwary away, only the dizzy nausea and slow loss of breath as the strangler did its work. Faquarl had no use for the peach pits.

It isn't so much a discovery as an awkward settling of something Shinsou had known all along, sitting next to a villainous quirk and a burning desire to be a hero. He isn't human.

He had no defense against the accusation, and so he stayed silent.
There were more important things than his grief, his pain. There was survival, and there was freedom, and there were those who were depending on him to give them a chance at both.
Those same people he worked to save, may just be the ones to save him, now that he has committed the greatest crime: surviving when others did not.
