Hm? No, I'm just thinking about all the trials and tribulations that the Cryo citizens undoubtedly had to face due to the misfortune of having pyromaniacs as neighbours. It's a situation worthy of our sympathy, isn't it?"

    What a ridiculous notion.

"If, hypothetically, these fictitious kingdoms were to exist, then I'm sure the upstanding Pyro citizens would've had a good reason for what they did." Diluc says evenly, crossing his arms.

    "Is that so?"

Cb 1 And suddenly, he felt incredibly self-conscious. He recognized that nobody cared about him and who he was, even Lan Yan, who had seemed so worried when she had laid eyes on him and who was crossing his path without looking at him.

His legs stopped all by themselves, while his eyes still wandered. They followed the people around him and his ears managed to catch a few pieces of conversation every now and then.

Not too long ago, he had heard them whisper as soon as they had seen him. They had talked about rumors surrounding him, had wondered what he might be doing. And during the night in the tavern, he had been invited to drink with them.

    But now?

D thanks K si trying to manifoldSpare your words for someone dumber than me. I won’t fall for your tricks, you hear me?,” he growled, “So don’t bother me again.” The hatred in his expression was nearly enough to make Kaeya break down right then and there. This day had already been too much, this vision, the chaos, everything.

But he couldn’t give up. He needed Diluc. No matter how angry he was, no matter how many times he pushed Kaeya away.

And his words made it even clearer. “You’re such an idiot!!” Another bang against the bubble, another exasperated snot. “Don’t listen to the voices in your head! You said it yourself, it’s the Abyss playing tricks on you!”

    The Abyss playing-

    That’s what he thought??

    “You don’t-!”

it wasn’t for you, I…” A short moment of doubt. He lowered his head and for the first time, he noticed Diluc’s hands holding his own.

    “It probably would’ve succeeded.”

    Diluc coughed.

“Oh, uh…” He cleared his throat and pulled away his hands. It seemed he had also only now remembered that he was still holding Kaeya’s hand. “Well, that’s…good to hear, I guess…”

Character 2 He had never dared to think that he might miss that bond. That he might miss Kaeya. The hatred still clawing at his heart, even now, had always prevented him from considering forgiveness.

Though hearing how deeply Kaeya cared about him…

How he had never once stopped…

Diluc had never questioned how he had changed in the years after that fateful night. He had simply thought that he’d grown up to be a different man, just like himself, to end all ties that had connected him to their shared childhood.

But now, he could finally see the truth. Finally see Kaeya for who he really was. For he had not stopped being that scared, shy and lost child his father had found during that storm. He was still full of self-doubt, lacking confidence and mental strength, and he pulled his resolve from the people around him.

But how could he feel this way? His opinion of Kaeya had never changed. He would know that. Surely he would’ve noticed, right? After all, it was his own opinion. And that had been consolidated over the years.

No one would forgive him for what he had done in Snezhnaya. He had done it, out of anger and hatred, he had suffered during that time, but he had done it.

Ch 1 idn’t feel like he could appear even just cordial right now. How could Diluc just waltz back into town and everyone threw themselves at his feet? Kaeya had struggled so much after his wardship expired. With no Ragnvindr in town to force respect, people revealed the extent of their indifference towards penniless orphans; they only paid lip service to the notion. As soon as he’d secured Diluc’s old position within the Knights, he’d promised himself to never become like them. The unexpected hardship had opened his eyes to his privilege, and he began to refuse anything Adelinde smuggled out of the estate for his sake. He started donating to the orphanage managed by the Church. He could never match Master Crepus’ donations that continued after his death, but he liked to think he did his part for those who were abandoned like him.

The door slammed open at this moment, and four people spilled inside the room. Kaeya didn’t have the time to let go of Diluc before he was threatened with kitchen knives and a frying pan. Under the shaking light of a candle, he recognized Adelinde and three other maids in night robes, and they recognized him too.

    “Sir Kaeya, please step back.”

“It’s quite alright,” Diluc intervened. “We were just arguing a bit vehemently. Thank you for checking up on us.”

Even to his ears, it sounded more like a wanton moan than a plea to let go. Diluc pushed him back a bit, just enough that he had a perfect view of Kaeya’s cock rubbing against his stomach. Kaeya wanted to disappear in embarrassment and shame.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to put you in this position.”
