    “Double or nothing,” Chimney declared across the fire loft station, eyes narrowed at Buck.

    In the middle of the table was a pile of cheesy Dorito chips that they were using instead of money. The game had started halfway through their shift. Whenever they had down time, they had returned to it. The bell had yet to go and they were taking advantage of the spare time.

    Buck snorted, shaking his head. “No way. Last time I did that I ended up with millions.”

    It’s not the first time Evan “Buck” Buckley has helped someone move. Over his years of travelling, of making new friends in each city he ends up in, he always manages to help someone move. Buck had even landed himself a job as a professional mover for a small company when he needed some quick cash.

    It is the first time though, that he’s been plucked off the street to help with what seemed to be a brand-new fire station moving into their new space.

    Buck winced as a sharp elbow poked him in the ribs. He turned to see Bridget giving him an amused look.

    “I think that’s you.” Bridget pointed to their left.

    Buck followed her gaze and he blinked at the sight that was waiting there for him.

    A large colourful piece of paper his held up high between Hen and Chimney, big glittering letters “Welcome Home, Buck!” on display. Pictures he can’t quite make out at the distance are scattered around the writing and he felt his heart trip in his chest.
