When the waves died in their intensity, gently overlapping each other as it dribbled on the shore; Mantis and Loki followed suite from prying eyes.

She expressed her annoyance by grabbing his hand, giving it a firm squeeze.
A bubble, and a bad apology lodged inside the middle of his throat. Stubbornly he tried to swallow it down, but before he could even attempt to recollect himself, she had yanked him forward; Catching him off guard by her sudden spurt of strength.
Her voice dropping, mixing with the hushed sea foam that caressed the shore. “You are a fool.” She whispered, the rest of her smile now so clear from pulling him closer.
She had made him fall on top of her, the weight of his body knocking the breath out from her lungs for a heartbeat before she gasped, laughter spilling out as the world tilted around them like the deck of a ship.
It made him dizzy.

“One last thing.” Loki leaned forward, his back crooked from bending himself down to almost match her eye level. “I promise.”
He held both hands out, cupping them. Mantis tilted her head, confused by his action, till green sparks started shooting out, nearly startling her. They’d burst from his palms, like little stars, sparkling. It was almost like a miniature version of the grander display before them, silent too. Perfection.
She was stunned, the shadow of the green lights dancing on their faces. It continued on like that for a little while, till there was no more fireworks, till the soft warm glow from the city lights turned off one by one. Till the magic from his hands died out like a sleepy flame.

Summary
She set the phone on the table, airing their frustrations in the open as she swayed her body back to fall on a chair twice her size. She was starting to think that men of all species talk a lot, all she could do for entertainment was spin in circles as her feet flew in the air. The chair was comfy at least, made of black leather, glad that she successfully convinced him not to drag his entire throne in. It just wouldn’t look right, but mostly because he wouldn’t let her sit in it.
Her whole body shook when she came to an abrupt stop, her sight missing the detail of an oak door being slightly ajar.
“Darling…” A familiar voice whispered into her ear, his breath teasing her skin, amused at catching her in the act. “We’re not slacking off, are we?”
