“Val, do it.” She recognizes the popping static of ghost speak. Danny raises his head and the pain in his eyes is gone, replaced with grim, angry determination.
She opens her mouth to respond, but he stops her.
“Don’t reply, just shoot me. If you do it, you’re free.”
He couldn’t survive this. Not unless there's something major he isn’t telling her.
And then she remembers there is.

Valerie and Danny are kidnapped by the GIW due to their anomalous ectoplasmic radiation readings. In the lab, they're put trough testing to determine whether or not they still count as human. Danny struggles with the cost of keeping his secrets to avoid hurting Valerie, while Valerie grapples with the real ramifications of her suit’s technology and how ghostly she's becoming. Together they must both face their truths if they want to get out alive.

Danny's (half) life has been going great. Greater than great, even. Ghost hunting is easier than ever, he's actually getting sleep, his grades are no longer in the toilet, and his parents aren't even trying to kill him anymore! What more could he ask for?
Well, probably to not get shipped off to a sketchy GiW lab for, quote, "Lot's of painful experiments".
But hey! He (they?) gets out in the end, so like all's well that ends well right?

Summary
Jack has come home with a Mother's Day gift to blow all other thoughtful gestures out of the water. Too bad Jack and Maddie are not aware that a bouquet of Blood Blossoms can kill their son.
When Danny's only alternative is to out his ghost self and ruin his mother's gift in one fell swoop, Danny opts to bear the torment while he can. Blood Blossoms are notorious for dying quickly, and he intends to simply outlast them. Everything will be fine, surely, as long as Danny outlasts them.
Why did Blood Blossoms nearly go extinct in the first place?
