Summary
“Pyro—okay this act is really convincing but this is hurting—“
“What?” He shouts, digging his claws into Avid’s arms. Then, quieter, “What do you mean, ‘act’?”
Avid looked around, whispering, “You-You were nervous about Scott thinking we were working together, so I said we should pretend I was holding you hostage! So it looked like we were still enemies!”
“You what?!” Pyro shouted, uncaring if someone heard his frustrated yelling.
“I don’t know!” Avid squeaked. “I panicked!”
“That’s—“ But the longer Pyro thinks about it, the more he holds hope it might work. But… no, this would be betrayal, and he must not betray his Sire! But if it does, he could speak to Apo—or the doctor—he could find a cure. This would be the second time he lied. There is no home to return to with the humans, Sire is correct. He always is. But he doesn’t…
——————
After a chance encounter in the woods, Avid pretends to kidnap Pyro in an attempt to have a genuine conversation. It goes… surprisingly well?
——————
Or, I got the pyro disease, and I need someone to Please God talk to this man.
(Set after Avid is turned into a vampire, but before Apo is ‘kicked’ out of town.)

Summary

Instead, he finds the breath stilling in his lungs, chest growing cold as he takes in the bat in front of him. Short, stubby ears rather than the long, slender ones of the brown bats around them. The bat’s eyes gleam, nestled in an intelligent face.
A vampire bat. A vampire bat.

Summary
Scott was terrifying, really—he could end Pyro’s eternal life if he really wanted, if he screwed up too much, if he wasn’t loyal enough. He feared punishments, he feared disapproval and disappointment.
And yet, despite everything, Scott was…enrapturing, to say the least.

Summary
It will be useless, obviously, considering her roommate certainly isn’t a vampire. But, now, next to Shelby's red stringed conspiracy board on all the very real supernatural beings in her life, is a much smaller one stating:
MY ROOMMATE IS NOT A VAMPIRE: AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION
They decide to use their slightly worse ball of red string, just to really drive home how unnecessary the whole thing is.
***
Five reasons Shelby's roommate is not a vampire and one reason he is.
