Summary
"Why did you believe me?" Stiles asks later, catching up to Derek outside the police station. He's back to his scowly, bristly self.
"Because you're right, it was arson. But the police can't prove who did it."
I know who it was! Stiles thinks hard at Derek while watching him leave in a sleek black Camaro. But how is he supposed to tell Derek without making himself look totally suspicious? Saying that it’s arson is one thing, but claiming to know who the arsonist is when the whole town was convinced it was nobody's fault?
And he had no evidence. While evidence doesn’t always mean truth like Derek said, evidence does get a person places. Case in point: evidence would get a mass murderer like Kate Argent in prison for life.
