Jiang Cheng takes a deep breath, and sees Wei Wuxian instinctively lean backwards. “And why should I?” he asks through gritted teeth, attempting to remain cordial.
Lan Wangji squints. “Jiang Wanyin, we are bonded,” he states as if Jiang Cheng were a child. “You cannot tell due to your status as a Beta–”
He yanks his wrist out of Lan Wangji’s hold as Nie Huaisang unfolds his fan to convey his interest, and Wei Wuxian looks like he’s seconds from passing away. “My status as a what?”
“A Beta,” Lan Wangji repeats firmly.
