Summary
As a branch from a tree snaps back and hits him in the face, Shang Qinghua is pretty sure this is the stupidest idea he’s ever had.
Shen Yuan, his best, sickly, (and only) friend in the whole wide world is missing. Honestly, Qinghua is impressed he managed it with how anal his older brother is about his location at all times, but he is. It’s been two days, and Shen Qingqiu is one conniption away from sending a letter to the royal court to make everyone go look for his darlingest little brother. Honestly, if Qinghua had an ounce of self-preservation in his short, fat body, he’d have let this happen. However, due to the overwhelming anxiety threatening to cause him to both throw up and die without Shen Yuan, seeing as the man has been without his medication this whole time, he’s decided to enter the woods that Shen Yuan admitted to wanting to explore by himself.
Qinghua is not strong, only a little smart, has no stamina, and a terrible sense of direction. He’s so lost. The only reason he still has hope is because Shen Yuan is just as if not more hopeless outdoors as he is. So maybe two very stupid minds will think alike. -

Lysandre von Ordelia looks at the table covered in absolutely every single white, edible substance known to man (and one or two brown substances, just to keep things funky fresh), and looks back at Felix and says, “Well, fuck.”
He nods, “Well, fuck, indeed.” They look back at the powders.
“Where are the wet ingredients, Felix?” Felix pauses before sighing.
“I’ll go get the eggs. What else do we need?”
“Vanilla extract and uh…” They trail off, looking at the book they found with Felix the day before. “Fresh cream.”
“...? You put cream in macarons?” Lys rolls their eyes.
“In the filling, you rube.”
“Can’t you just call me a piece of shit like a normal person?”
“No. It’s funnier. Go get the eggs.” Felix rolls his eyes back at them, shoving their arm before exiting the kitchen. Lys shakes their head absentmindedly before looking back at the recipe book. Double-chocolate Faerghus macarons were a complicated recipe, but they wanted to give themselves plausible deniability when they presented Annette with her birthday treat tomorrow. If it was a hard thing to make, then clearly it wouldn’t be their fault that it failed.
That was how it worked, right? Definitely.

Bernard...doesn’t seem to think so. Not in the least, if the nervous bob of his Adam's apple is anything to go by.
Tim creeps behind him, utterly silent until his nose almost tickles the back of Bernard’s neck, then whispers in his ear, “It’s haunted.”
Bernard shrieks.
Alfred opens the door.
A solid ton of polished oak and brass and institution caresses the floor in a sweeping curve, giving way to Bernard, Batman t-shirt underneath a blazer, cherry red in the face. Tim snickers beside him.

Summary
“We welcome you,” the cultist is saying, breathlessly. “To the mortal realm, oh father of Chaos-”
Bernard slowly raises his head, meets the cultist’s gaze, and he stutters to a stop. Tim’s breath catches, because Bernard smiles, manic and benevolent and totally devoid of humanity.
The cultist, shaking with excitement or awe, bows his head. Bernard floats down, and reaches to delicately touch the side of the mask, cupping his face.
“Stupid animal,” he says, kindly, “Why would I thank you for this?”
The cultist starts to raise his head, confused.
It’s not Bernard, says Tim’s brain, even though he already knew that, even though he was putting the pieces together the minute the knife flashed down, even though he shoved the knowledge away because it was unbearable to consider, it’s not Bernard, and it’s only that thought that keeps him from fumbling when vines explode from the cultist’s eyeball.
At the ritual altar, Bernard gets possessed by Dionysus. Nobody liked that.
