Neil looks back out on the setting sun. It's already almost gone and he should've been too by now. He was never supposed to make it to his final year anyway. He was meant to die years ago. He's just been buying his time. If anything, he's on borrowed time. Falling off this roof will do nothing but set the universe right again. Maybe that's why there's this hole in his chest that's not getting any better. He was never meant to be here, and the universe is just trying to make it right. Not that he's ever believed in stuff like that. He still doesn't. It's nice to have a reason though.
