Summary
Iroh never meant to tell Ozai about the firebending masters, Ran and Shaw. The blood sport of hunting dragons unnerved him, and he was charged by the Sun Warriors to keep their society, and the dragons, a secret. Iroh obliged.
Ozai never believed his brother really slew the final dragon. He knew a liar when he saw one, and Iroh had never mastered the art of hiding secrets from his younger brother. As a result, the Fire Lord believed a dragon still existed and was ripe for killing.
He decided he would do something about it.
Or rather, that his 13-year-old son would do something about it.
(Aka Ozai suspects the last dragon is still alive and sends Zuko to finish it off.)

Summary
The takeover of Ba Sing Se went splendidly for Azula. She got exactly what she wanted (at least, that's what she told herself) and did what she had been sent to do. She could return home to the Fire Nation as a victorious princess, once again proving her worth as the future Fire Lord.
One can only assume that, if things went well for Azula, then they did not end so well for Team Avatar.
Aang has to find himself a firebending teacher, and he knows time is running out before Ozai wreaks havoc during Sozin's comet. (which includes, but is not limited to, abandoning his daughter for world domination, causing the second genocide but it's Earth Kingdom edition, and overall being the jerk everyone knows he is)
Will Aang find a teacher?
Oh, yes he will.
He just has to keep his options open.
(aka Azula questions her life choices, Katara thinks bloodbending can be good, and everything descends into chaos for a while)

Summary

A hundred years later, Katara and Sokka find a boy in an iceberg, and their teenage lives are turned upside down. They, and a girl they meet along the way, decide that this new boy has a destiny to fulfill and become his companions, travelling all over the world, meeting new people, seeing things they'd never imagined they would see.
It's all fine and dandy.

After the battle at the north pole, Aang and his friends know he needs an earthbending teacher, and soon. Seems easy enough if they can make their way to the Earth Kingdom. Sure, they might have crazy people to fight and long stretches of land to cross, but it's nothing they haven't faced yet.
There's only one problem (again):
They have a princess (not a prince) on their tails.
And she's more dangerous and deadly than her brother.
(aka Sokka and Zuko are sassing each other, the Gaang are a bunch of idiotic teenagers trying to run a family while running from the law, and Azula decides that murder is definitely a great way to spend the evening)

Wilbur scrubbed at the counter, tongue sticking out as he tried to wipe off the stain on the counter. He wasn’t sure when this stain appeared -clearly long enough to settle in. Wilbur sprayed the stain once more with a cleaning solution, using his cleaning rag and pushing all his weight onto the stain like that would somehow get it to come off.
He lifted up the rag, sighing with relief before throwing it around a hook. It was nearly closing time. Only about 15 minutes until 10 pm.
Wilbur sat down, drumming his fingers on the counter as he waited. Technically, he was the owner of the shop. He could just close up a little early. Most people don’t come to coffee shops this late.
He must have jinxed himself because as soon as the thought came into his mind, the ringing of the bell above his store door grew much louder.
Or, Wilbur Soot is a lonely man who doesn’t believe he can love. SBI prove him wrong.
