Utahime's tempted to leave him off the email but he is Geto's best friend and Shoko is right; Utahime doesn't have time to plan a wedding all by herself. She cracks open a beer and adds Gojo's email to the CC line, regretting it as soon as she hits send.
His reply is instantaneous—the subject line just a smile emoji, with a single line in the body and an image attached. She opens the image first, fearing the worst, but it's a pencil sketch of a wedding cake and Gojo-Iori Nuptial Services written neatly below it.
Our names look good together, don't you think?
Oh, he was insufferable.

Summary
"So," Ahsoka says, biting down on her bottom lip and drawing the word out in a way that reveals how nervous she is. "If you need to be up early then I'm probably keeping you from sleep?"
She is, but Rex ignores the tidal wave of sleep threatening to crash over him. Shoves away the siren song of his bed, begging him at an ever-increasing volume to slip under its covers and try to get even a few hours of sleep before he has to head into the office. But he also knows this moment is finite. That the magic will fall away as soon as they both fall asleep. That the bright light of the morning and the Anakin-shaped elephant that exists in every room they're in together will once again be between them. That they'll retreat back to the carefully drawn lines of friend and sister, never being anything more to each other.

Summary
Ahsoka didn’t want to voice her next thoughts, certain that speaking them aloud would bring them to fruition. She peeked at Rex, the turmoil on his face clear. They were in agreement without speaking a word.
There was nothing inside the stronghold that would open the doors. Nothing that would save them. The only path forward was the one that stood behind them; the long hallway that led them further into the clutches of whatever Darth Voluptas had left inside her stronghold. It was a path that almost certainly led to their doom, cementing their fate as two more victims of a long-dead Sith and her dark machinations.
Together, moving as one, they turned to look at the hallway, dread prickling at the bottom of Ahsoka’s spine. As if the stronghold were taunting them, the lights flickered, dimming fully before slowly illuminating once more. Only now the room around them was dark, the stronghold's mysterious light fully focused on the hallway with no end.
"Well, I guess it's true what they say," Rex muttered as they stood shoulder to shoulder, weapons at the ready. The way they always were, no matter what foe they faced. "The only way out is through."

If Ahsoka was a fire in her youth, blazing fierce and brash and beyond containment, now she is a long-burning lantern, bright and warm and steady – the kind that can light up a pitch-black cave all on its own. She is taller and stronger, her montrals curving gracefully above her head like a crown, her lekku trailing gloriously long down her back. Grace paints every motion of her body; wisdom and age and lessons hard learned sit in every curve and angle of her face. She has grown so magnificent that Rex can hardly speak when he first looks at her.
“I wanted to see how you were settling in,” she says.
“Well enough,” he says, finding his voice again – abruptly at ease with his commander, like old times. “Your Rebellion isn’t as well outfitted as the Republic of old, but it’ll do for an old soldier like me.”
“Two old soldiers like us,” she corrects, and she crosses the room to sit beside him on the little narrow bunk.
