After fifteen years of knowing about gods and monsters, Will would have thought nothing could surprise him anymore. Demigods learn young to expect the unexpected, and he maybe knows that even better than most. But coming home from Saturday roommate brunch, seven years after Nico broke his heart and just a few months after the long-time-coming breakdown finally ruined his life, to find Nico barely-conscious and bleeding on his doorstep—that’s a little outside the range of life complications even Will would usually account for.
And it definitely wasn’t in Nico's plans. He's finally trying to get his life back together; he doesn’t need to have it derailed by Will’s stupid face and eyes and shoulders. But evidently, the universe—or the Fates—or maybe some deity in particular—has other ideas.

“I’m sorry,” Nico says, “if you didn’t want, I—I didn’t mean to—”
“It’s okay, it’s—no, I was gonna say I’m—cause, no, it wasn’t—just you—” Will shakes his head, and with a decided air of fuck it, he grabs Nico’s other shoulder too and pulls him back in.
His lips are chapped—of course; it’s almost winter. He still tastes like hot chocolate. Nico isn’t sure he’s ever kissed anyone the way he kisses Will back right now, including Will himself. Before. He feels like if he doesn’t, he might actually die.
