The bathroom is awash with so much blood that Hermione isn’t sure Draco will live. She steps reluctantly over the threshold and into the red water.
Her shoes squelch. Her socks are instantly soaked. They will be forever stained with a faint pink, a reminder she can’t scrub out, but that is later and this is now.
She takes out a jar from her pocket and tips a small blue flame into her palm, then clenches her fingers until the fire vanishes with a faint puff of smoke.
The blood is darker in the middle of the room, and Hermione kneels, drenching her skirt, to scoop up a jarful as her robes drag around her legs.
