Summary
“I’ve been having dreams again,” Gwen said while attempting to haul their unconscious father out of the bathtub.
He was fully clothed, thankfully, but he had taken to spending his withdrawal episodes locked in their shared bathroom where he could curse and scream, vomit and piss his pants without catching his children in the crosshairs. For the most part it worked, but it left them with the disadvantage of needing to go to the neighbor's house or behind the bushes whenever they needed to pee.
“What kind of dreams?” Finney asked, lifting his father from beneath his arms while Gwen grabbed hold of his legs. They were both a little bit older now with Finney just shy of his fourteenth birthday. As for Gwen, she was proud to have started her period last month, and with it came more dreams and startlingly accurate intuition. Sometimes it felt as though she was reading Finney's mind. Other times it was like Gwen thought so loudly you couldn’t help but overhear her.
