Summary
This was important. This mattered. She mattered here. She had no one to truly share her burdens with here, but the alternative was untenable. Not that I shared in anything there either, she thought bitterly.
With a shake of her head, she returned to her work, ignoring the hurt and anger that had built for years before she’d had enough.
That night, alone in the safety of her own bed, she allowed herself to remember once more how she'd gotten here.~This work is the second in a series, and will make much more sense if you read The Queen is Gone first.~

Summary
When Harry “woke” after being hit by Voldy’s Avada, he was surrounded by a grey nothingness that slowly materialized into a washed out, apocalyptic version of Hogwarts’ Great Hall. The walls were scarred and all that was left of the house tables were smoldering husks. The ceiling that had awed generations of young witches and wizards now creaked ominously over his head. Harry dropped his gaze to where the head table had once stood, and saw that the only thing left on the daise was the Headmaster’s ornate chair. ‘More like a throne,’ Harry thought to himself. As he started forward to investigate further, a figure in a hooded cloak entered from the antechamber behind the daise and seemed to be talking to him (her?) self.

The mid winter sun was just beginning to peek through the high windows of the room when a loud knock on the door startled Draco out of sleep. He sat up and looked at the figure sleeping next to him, trying to remember her name, then dismissed it as unimportant. A knock came again as Draco slipped from the bed and reached for his robe. He called out, “Enter” as he belted the robe and crossed to a table already set with his morning meal of bread, meat, and ale. Theo, his liege man and oldest friend, quickly opened the door and spoke. “Your highness, the queen is leaving.”
