Popularity, talent, and a permanent grin conceal the hollowness he sometimes feels. He’s not a bookworm, but the town library has something that eases his emptiness. Maybe it’s the silence. Maybe it’s the smell of old pages.
Or maybe it’s the mysterious M who keeps replying to the notes he slips into borrowed books.
M writes with neat handwriting and fills the margins with adorable stickers or doodles that make Phainon grin like an idiot. Their exchanges grow from book reviews to little glimpses of their lives, until the letters they share feel like a secret world meant only for two.
Phainon tells himself he’s not falling for someone he’s never met. He’s just curious.
But he forgets that some stories don’t reveal their twist until he's already hooked.

Mydei lets out a quiet sigh.
Not far from him and squatting outside the lecture hall that he just exited from is a figure that he knows all too well. Black jeans and black hoodie with the hood pulled up to his head is none other than Khaslana.
Judging from his hunched posture, Mydei can already tell what happened.
He walks towards him, ignoring the conversations and people walking around him before stopping just two steps away from the hunched man. “Got into a fight again?”
