Summary
Ian shows up at the Milkovich house like it’s any other day. Mickey’s in the shower, so he waits on the bed, killing time. He doesn’t mean to snoop—but when the fourth drawer sticks and opens, everything changes. Inside are razors, bloody rags, gauze, and under it all, a suicide note addressed to him. Ian can’t breathe. Can’t speak. He breaks down sobbing—gasping, trembling, too wrecked to say a single full sentence. By the time Mickey walks in and sees him, it’s already too late. Ian’s already shattered.

Summary
A cruel comment from a stranger — “do the world a favor and kill yourself” — lodges itself in Mickey’s mind like a splinter. It festers. He tells no one. Not even Ian. While Ian is at work, Mickey swallows a bottle of pills, lays down, and quietly gives up. But what Mickey doesn’t expect is for Ian to come home early and find Mickey passed out, unconscious.
