Basil wouldn't have run, he'd have stayed, because he– he… Basil would have actually cared enough to stick around. But something stopped him. Where would he even go? DAY EIGHT:
Already mottled with bruises from his abrupt arrival at kindergarten that morning, Felix’s back aches whenever he moves. It now boasts a dull, constant throbbing that ripples persistently up his spine, catching on every pointed vertebrae. Whilst reduced to lying on the floor like some– some plebian, its tiles had seeped ice water through his shirt. It had been something to distract himself with, during the… Beating.
Felix is no stranger to a little pain. The squelching wallop of wood against his temple echoes in his head like a gunshot, and the experience of being hit again and again and again seems to repeat itself afterwards in sudden, vicious spikes. Felix is loath to touch his forehead now, feeling the remnants of that sticky crimson substance congeal in his hair, sticking to itself and painting the line of his scalp with filth.
Red is not Felix’s colour. And yet– he thinks resentfully, staring down at his shirt– it is everywhere.

1. Make sure you are in the past and check all your bases. Determine whether science or magic brought you there.
Definitely in the past, but also in an alternate universe. Definitely a magic trick.
2. Stay out of anyone’s way and don’t move until I find you and bring you home.
Rescue’s not coming, and I need to move.
3. Whatever you do, never ever mess with time.
