There is nothing Hashirama misses from the era of warring states.
Well, there is one thing.
When they would meet on the battlefield, weapons clashing in a dissonant duet, Madara used to gaze at Hashirama with such fire in his eyes, as though a look could eviscerate him on the spot. Hashirama can picture his piercing gaze so well, overlaid as it is with the currently vacant expression Madara wears as he stares off into the space above Hashirama’s left shoulder.
He never, not in a million years, would have believed that he could miss Madara’s hatred as much as he longs for his love.

Summary
When the sun has disappeared across the horizon, a thick veil of darkness settles in, curling inward from the corners of Hashirama’s small room, draping itself across his sparse furnishings like a blanket. With bated breath, Hashirama watches the darkness smother the final remnants of moonbeams filtering through the blinds. As the dark unfolds, sounds from the outside world fall away until the only thing Hashirama can hear is the ragged sound of his own unsteady breaths.
“Miss me?” There’s a smile in his voice, unmistakable to Hashirama even in the dark. Hashirama’s heart aches with fondness.
“Always.” Hashirama’s hands fumble a bit in the dark to find him, eventually settling on a shoulder. He drags them upward until he can feel his visitor’s face, and the warmth spreading inside him blooms tenfold when he confirms that yes, Madara is grinning.
