    Megatron first learned to use fear and deception long ago in energon-soaked arenas, to deceive blood-thirsty audiences, and give those damned to execution in the fighting pits a secret way out.

    Only after the smoke cleared from the Uprising had he planned to stop playing the monster, when the truth would no longer jeopardize those he'd spared.

    It's just too bad that after the Uprising, an ill-timed cannon shot, and a desperate attempt to take it back, Optimus can barely trust him enough for a truce when the Quintessons invade. Megatron is convinced that the truth would only look to Optimus like a cruel manipulation.

    Meanwhile, the Autobots are keeping their own secret. Because nobody likes the math in Allspark + Sparkeater.

    10/8/25: Added a new chapter 3, involving a terrible sleepover that wrote itself. Scooted the Truce Era chapters over again.

    Gladiator Megatronus has always had alerts blinking in his vision. His Primary Mission, coded into his very spark by Primus himself, was inactive and constantly reminded him of its presence.
    Protect and Support Optimus Prime.
    But there was no bot by that name, Megatronus had checked.
    So he lived with the blinking alerts, ignoring them as best he could. Until a chance encounter with a small archivist changed everything.
    His mission came online. Target? Orion Pax.
    Too bad the archivist refused to stay safe.

When his research trip is interrupted by a violent storm and his own self-sacrificing tendencies, Orion finds himself stranded on an island, distant from civilization with no rescue in sight. He is far from alone however, when an equally curious mermech gives his unplanned detour a whole new fountain of study.

    Orion finds himself lost and stuck in the middle of nowhere with a giant shark I have affectionately called MerMegs (Or MerMegaShark for long). And they eventually fall in love.

    Orion Pax is an archivist at the Prime Museum of Cybertron in Iacon. It's his dream job, or was, before his mid life crisis kicked in and got him demoted to cleanup duty. While life is seemingly bleak, at least he still has the quasi-comforting Megatronus statue to vent his embarrassingly privileged problems to. At least he can't ever hold it against Orion, because he's not real.
