That small voice dissolves into the quiet, choking hiccups of someone trying to hide their tears.
Her hair is bright, bubble gum pink. It hurts to look at. She looks real.

His name is Hatake Kakashi. He is a jounin of Konahagakure no Sato. He doesn’t feel like that’s true. Something is very wrong with him.
He is thirty-five years old, a university student for the second time, hardly attached to his country, let alone his town, and he was a teenager when he last properly watched Naruto. Waking up as the traumatised goofy teacher guy must be some kind of joke.

Maybe he shouldn’t have pushed one of his more volatile students quite so far while playing as Sukea. One moment, he was enjoying a final game of teasing his face before passing the Hokage hat to Naruto; the next, he was in the past, draped in oversized clothes that now felt more like a tent than an outfit.

The thing that stuck with him the most was the smell. Sure, yeah the image was horrifying. But the smell— it lingered. Even after he scrubbed the floorboards and lit candles and put flowers everywhere—he could still smell it. The horrible, disgusting stench of blood and feces. Seppuku is the act of disemboweling oneself. There are many reasons for committing such an act, but in the case of his father it was done in an attempt to atone. He disgraced his village, his people, and his clan. So he needed to atone, and his way of doing that was committing seppuku.
