Summary
"The cage with human soul and parts."
Kris is shaken up by the night's events, seeing that prophecy looming over them, hating how it implies that they are somehow less than this parasite in them. Just a cage, no different than the one they keep in their room. It's given them more perspective. They were someone before and they're someone now despite it's intrusion. Now all they want is their autonomy back, the ability to choose and the consequences that come with those choices. They hope that maybe in freeing themselves, they can change those final lines, whatever they may have been. They're willing to do whatever it takes, but how does one tell the people who have put their lives on the line for them that the idea they have of them only exists due to the actions of something that isn't really them?

She hovers over them, staring intently, and for a moment, Kris thinks she's really going to start a fight in the classroom.
Then, she grabs the pumpkin pencil off of their desk and starts chewing on it.
In another world, Kris and Susie become friends far earlier. All it takes is a pumpkin-patterned pencil.

They nod.
"But they can't just do everything in there. They've gotta leave at some point and make the fountains." Her expression darkens, before a more sinister grin tilts her lip. "So why don't we just... wait? Just sit right out the door, 'til they come out. Then- WHAM! We clobber them." Then, as quickly as it came, the shadow left, Susie grinning brightly as she pointed at the baseball bats. "That's what these are for. No better smashing tool than a baseball bat."

"What the?!..."
Kris continued.
"Don't be alarmed. I... Am the prince of this Kingdom... The Kingdom of darkness."
"Well,"– Susie sniffed, grumbling in a startled tone at impromptu voice acting.–"Your Kingdom sucks. Get a lamp or something."

Never seen a mean noelle and asriel fic before and i love this. They're awful to kris and susie in such a realistic way, hidden in 'good motives' and diplonatic nice words packaging. Just like real life people that get away with insulting you in plain sight because of the way they word it, making anyone not paying much attention skim right over the ill will. It's insane.
I don't think kris has ocd in this one, as someone with diagnosed anxiety it seems to me like kris has anxiety while also being depressed and a perfectionist at heart, it's sn interesting combo that hits close to home. Ofc im not a doctor or anything so i might just be projecting. Its just that they remind me a lot of tge way i think. I hope they get together and move in to a nice place just for them.

From across the schoolyard Susie shoves Snowy out of her way remorselessly, almost crushing the apple juice in her hand from the might of her grip. Everyone stares fearfully as she passes.
“I’m working on it,” Kris says.
Kris has never been witness to a functional relationship, but they'll fight tooth and nail to set their own example.
