Alhaitham studied it, not letting much emotion show on his face, making Kaveh worry. The blonde awkwardly looked away before clearing his throat and slowly bringing his hands up. - “Me and you…” - He pointed a finger at his chest, then Alhaitham’s, and finally put his hands together and shook them. - “...could we be friends?” - He looked back up.
He regretted asking the moment he saw the way Alhaitham stared at him.
Is Kaveh stupid?! This is the kid he bullied! Of course Alhaitham would want nothing to do with him! He has every right to run from Kaveh. To punch him, yell at him, flip him off…
“I’m– so sorry, I don’t know why I said that!” - He waved his hands - “I should.. Go...”
Alhaitham put the notebook under his arm and hesitated before nodding. - “Okay. Let’s be friends.” - He didn’t look convinced. But he still gave Kaveh a chance.
Kaveh was given a chance.

Summary
With Alhaitham’s appointment as the Acting Grand Sage, suddenly, the new normal Kaveh’s grown used to is upended once more. Truly, Kaveh never thought the day would come where he would be concerned over Alhaitham’s work-life balance.
By the end of the fourth week, Kaveh decides he’s had enough. If, for some inconceivable reason, Alhaitham has suddenly decided to become so acquiescent, when Kaveh has never known him to be compliant or obedient in his life (before this, Kaveh would have said that Alhaitham had rather committed himself to being a nuisance), then Kaveh will have to be the one to force him to take a break.
