Summary
The eyes of the witch twitch and a hungry look appears on her face, when she reaches out to tug on the hem of Dean’s jacket.
“No, I don’t think there’s anything funny about that”, she purrs and Dean cringes when her finger starts to circle over his chest, “Losing love like that, it’s not funny at all, I can promise you. I wanted to do to them the same thing they did to me. I wanted to take away what they thought was strong enough to justify hurting me like that. But when I saw them…I wanted to see them bleeding. I wanted to see them choke on their lies.” Cooking her head to the side, she lets out a giggle and a trail of blood triples out of her mouth and down her chin, “What a waste of magic. But now that I think about it…”
---
During a hunt Dean barely manages to avoid the attack of a crazy witch. Everything seems alright, so they get back home and apart from a mean headache, Dean is okay. At least he thinks that, until he wakes up to his angelic best friend in his bed and no memories of a full year of their relationship.

Meanwhile, Castiel is awake in the Empty. Something is keeping him from rest. The last remnants of his angelic grace reach for the only piece of him left on Earth — a piece that is broken, shattered, but still longing for him.

Summary
Every other time he had died, it happened too fast to even process. Even getting ripped apart by hellhounds — he had been too focused on the pain and panic to realize he was dying. Now, the rebar in his heart hardly even hurt. It was uncomfortable, but it was easily ignored in the face of the fact that this was it — the end of the line.
When Dean Winchester’s life is cut short on what should be a routine hunt, he expects to find peace. Decades later, Sam’s arrival in Heaven reveals a devastating truth to Castiel, one that shatters everything he thought he knew. As the brothers and angel grapple with the consequences of decisions made long ago, they must confront a reality where death isn’t the end — but a new beginning that may be far darker than they ever imagined.
