Kaz hates humans. As if killing his parents and poisoning his brother wasn't enough They had to tear him away from his home to poke and prod him for their own amusement all the while slowly killing him from the inside out or in some cases from the outside too.

Wylan just wants to help as many merpeople as he can. It's the least he can do after his late fathers oil drilling company contributed to the slaughter of thousands through the poisoning of their home. After his father died he used his money to create one of the first non-profit mer rescue and recovery facility with a team led by his fiance Jesper and their good friend Inej.
After being told of a mer being put on display in some high society circles they will stop at nothing to rescue them and give them the comfort and security they need.<--><--><--><-->
