Summary
“Good. Roommates should know the worst of each other.”
Talk about a sense of irony. John’s mouth twists, somewhere between a smirk and a grimace. "You don’t know the worst of me, though.”
And why would he say that? Isn’t it better this way, with this kid thinking that the worst that John’s ever done in his life is brawling? Look at him, John tells himself, you could snap him in half.Sherlock has a new roommate. There's something...off about him, though.

Summary
John will just wank to his flatmate’s hipbones like any self respecting, red blooded British male. He will not think about about having Sherlock over the dining table, fucking him so hard he scrabbles at the wood and knocks over all the chemistry equipment. He won’t think about what Sherlock sounds like when he’s coming. He certainly won’t think about kissing Sherlock’s eyelids when he falls asleep on the sofa, television still tuned in to some documentary about the Bubonic plague.

Summary
“As I was saying--” Sherlock says shakily. For some inexplicable reason, his back is pushed up against the wall. John has no idea how that has happened.
“You have some-” John tries to say, but Sherlock barrels through.
“I owe you a favour-”
“Good, I’d like a kiss.”
Sherlock stops talking immediately. John wants to take that back, wants to backpedal like an idiot, blot out his words from Sherlock’s mind. But he also feels dangerous and reckless, wants the shape of Sherlock’s mouth burnt into his own.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Sherlock whispers. -

Summary
“So,” John says, sounding breathless. His eyes are dark and his cheeks are pink, and Sherlock thinks he might be a little bit in love. His own body is entirely too warm to be normal. Is he getting a fever? God, he hopes not. This would be the worst possible time. “So,” John says again. “I know you’re married to your work and this isn’t your area. But. I was thinking, maybe you could re-evaluate that.”
“Re-evaluate,” Sherlock repeats, in a strangled sort of voice.
John tilts his head, licks his lips. “If you’re amenable.”
Or: Five times John kissed Sherlock, and one time Sherlock kissed John.

Summary
Red wine always makes him tipsier than usual and he finds himself saying, the words slurring a bit. “You know, I’ve got to ask. Do you always shoot cabbies for people you barely you know?”
John meets his gaze over the rim of his glass, and there’s something there that Sherlock can’t pin down. “Not for everyone,” he says, meaningfully, pointedly, his smile all teeth.Sherlock feels faint. He’s flirting. Is he? Sherlock has to backpedal, get out of the hole he’s dug himself into.
“You should come home with me tonight,” Oh god no, that’s the exact opposite of what he should be doing.
John’s eyes widen and he blinks at him. “Er-“
“I mean, 221B’s closer, it’s late,” he scrambles for words. “And you’ll be staying there anyway. I mean- well, I’m assuming. Ms Hudson’s already put up the bed-“ Christ, he’s not being clever and sexy at all, he’s blabbering like an idiot-

Summary
It is not working. Whatever John was hoping to accomplish over these past six months, whatever he was hoping to prove by selling the little house he'd shared with Mary and returning to build a home out of the rubble of Baker Street has not come to pass. He is a welcome presence, but he is miserable.
As their personal and professional relationship slowly unravels under an intangible strain, a case forces Sherlock and John to spend the night inside the London Aquarium.

Summary
Silence stretches between them. Yusuf gets up, unable to stomach lying there for a moment longer. There is still spend drying between his thighs, but he pulls on his pants and tunic anyway, moving quickly against the embarrassment that is steadily creeping up on him.
Hanif's voice sounds from behind him as Yusuf leans down to put on his shoes. “Can I give you a bit of advice?”
Yusuf stands and turns to see Hanif sitting up on the bed, finally meeting Yusuf’s gaze. The lamp is almost out, and there are more shadows crossing his face than there is light.
Advice is the last thing Yusuf wants right now, but Hanif pushes on before he can respond.
“The way you love is overwhelming. It’s like being caught in a storm.” Hanif’s voice is not unkind, but his words cut deeply. “Don’t feel everything so deeply, Yusuf. It will only ruin you.”

Summary
“You look rather gloomy for a man on their wedding day, my friend.”
Yusuf does not turn around at the sound of Sébastien’s voice, but he allows his shoulders to relax for what feels like the first time in months. He hasn’t had a single moment for himself since he set foot on this cursed island, and today... today he’s supposed to marry a complete stranger in order to finally put an end to a senseless war started by angry old men when Yusuf was but a baby at his mother’s breast.
“I am pleased that all parties have agreed to the treaty, of course,” Yusuf says, his voice so purposely solemn that Sébastien cracks a lopsided smile and bumps playfully against his shoulder. “I just wish there was another way.”
The death of King Ibrahim al-Kaysani and his eldest son and heir put an end to the decades-old conflict between the kingdoms of Mahdia and Genoa.
Mahdia was victorious but barely, and to secure that tenuous peace, the kingdoms of the Long Sea came together to marry King Ibrahim’s remaining living son and Regent, Yusuf, to a member of Genoa’s royal family.
The only problem is: there were no daughters available.

Summary
They’re sure of each other, now. They’re settled. And as far as Sherlock is concerned, settled isn’t the least bit boring or stifling or constraining.
Settled is marvellous. Settled is freeing.
Settled means sometimes you make romantic love by candlelight, murmuring hushed words of endless devotion solely because you want to, because the moment feels right and good.
And sometimes, settled means you fuck on the sofa on a Saturday afternoon, straightforward and uncomplicated, no deep desperate romance necessary, just because fucking is fun.
