Wesker looks at him and he knows he’s twenty-five. He feels so certain of the exact number, that he thinks if he were to cut him open—maybe where his arm is thickest and his chest is broadest—he would not be surprised to find and count the bands of him like the trunk of a redwood.

"Captain," Chris murmurs, pressing a hand now to his waist, fingers slipping beneath his tactical vest. He sounds so tired, worn down. "Come home with me."
He doesn't answer for a long time before sighing. "Sometimes I think you forget when I indulge you." He reaches up and places his hand over Chris's. "We live in different worlds."
"I know," he says.
No, Wesker thinks, you don't.
The problem with Chris Redfield is that he always manages to pull Wesker back, even across time and space.
