The rich golden blooms spread around the child’s home… similar as they had the hospital where she’d been born. Nature seemed to celebrate her presence. Her mother smiled. She herself favored that particular shade. It made her think of sunshine, a warmth. It was a great definition to describe how peering at her daughter made you feel, everyone said so.

Meanwhile, a man has an alarming nightmare of his own death. He held a beautiful girl in his arms, so consumed with sadness at her loss… he gave his essence to her to bring her back. As he did he died. But, he died with a smile after a kiss. It was so strange… when he woke, he was shaken.

A year after things began to truly settle following the war, Draco sat in a muggle pub with an unlikely pair. Harry Potter and Theo Nott were beside him nursing, what he deemed inferior whiskey. He wasn’t sure how it happened, just that it had slowly developed. This dimly lit place called ‘The Fat Frog’ was boasted a college crowd, pool tables, and something called karaoke. They came fairly often. Harry complained that he and Ron Weasley drifted apart when Hermione decided they weren’t compatible. It affected the whole trio. Draco got to know Potter at work, thankful for his help at his trial. Theo was a package deal that came with Draco. The new trio tended to get into mischief. Usually thought up by the younger Nott heir. Harry did drag them to explore muggle areas. Draco avoided his parents like the plague. They managed to sidestep the aurors and muggle police. Since Draco and Harry were training for that department, it would have looked poorly. Boredom was a toxic, poisonous thing… he wondered sometimes if it would continue to infect his life and cause him problems.

His silver eyes fell to the floor to keep their glassiness from view.

She ran her nose against his throat so very slowly, his pulse was racing... so loud. His fright tangible and thick around them. This human she’d watched over, followed all these months... statue still, frozen by his fear. Rey grinned wickedly. It tasted delicious. Potent. She drew just a fraction from his mind, his body seemed on the verge of collapse. The others would have simply ripped out his throat, drank his warm crimson wealth deeply... but she was an oddity among her kind. The force was never wrong... This human was hers... well, she thought of him as hers. She was pleased to find him again. He’d grown so much. No longer a child. “Go to sleep... dream of sparkling oceans, sand, peaceful islands long gone... wake tomorrow at peace..” Rey let him fall back to the floor, his friend Finn would think he’d fallen asleep on lookout. She kissed his temple. The human wars had decimated the planet, reawakened the resting demons beneath it’s stones. The price had been high. Rey recalled his memories as she flew through the shadows to her territory. Armitage didn’t approve of her pet human... but he was one to talk, wasn’t he? ... the hypocrite.
