Miles Quaritch returned to the RDA as a failure. He didn't think he had it in him to be a traitor: all he had ever done, all his life, was follow orders.
The RDA weren't convinced. Fortunately for them, making a recombinant was getting easier and easier, and they'd already proven once they could do it with Quaritch. Unfortunately for him, it wouldn't exactly do to have copies running around.
He knew his duty and he accepted his fate. He could only hope that whatever had gone wrong with him wouldn't go wrong with the next one.
