Summary
This is a new one for me, folks. My first AU! (And yes, I'm aware I haven't finished Hue and Cry yet. I'm sorry. I promise I'm working on it.) I've had this idea circling around my brain for quite some time now and it's suddenly started yelling to be let out, so here we are.
Geralt, a ship's captain who commands a crew of monster-hunting sailors, rescues Jaskier from one of his rivals. Jaskier's only experience with Geralt's kind has left him with some pretty deep trauma, which he'll need to try to overcome--with Geralt's help, of course. Can they outwit and outmanuever the danger dogging their every move? And can Jaskier recover the man he used to be before his harrowing experience and learn to trust again?

Between work, his family, his daughter, his daughter’s school, his ex - he’s got a lot to remember. It’s not his fault if he forgets things sometimes. Just this once.
(Geralt forgets Ciri has a bake sale at school, and does his best to course correct. There is nothing on course about the owner of Buttercup Bakery.)

Summary
Geralt tried so hard not to get attached or even get close to humans. Vesemir had drilled into them nothing good would come of it. Such things are a weakness and a weak witcher is a dead one. Though how come this bard seems to contradict everything Geralt thought he knew. Jaskier is weak in every definition he'd been taught.
