"Come on, lighten up, Herder. You're my new partner, right? Shouldn't we get along?"
When Herder stayed stone-faced, Moran tried coaxing him further by pinching his cheek.
"Ow. What are you doing?"
Herder protested, but Moran clearly had no intention of letting go. That was, until Herder suddenly moved. Quick enough to catch him off guard, the smaller man twisted, shoving Moran back against the wooden wall. His arm slammed into place beside Moran's head, pinning him in a cage of muscle and steel. Their faces were so close Moran could feel the warmth of Herder's breath against his skin.
Trapped in the narrow space, Moran swallowed hard. His voice dropped low. "You know, if you keep getting this close, I might get the wrong idea."
