Summary
The window slid open with ease and Wei Ying climbed out into the tree. He would get settled somewhere and then write to Lan Zhan. They could exchange letters, until Wei Ying managed to afford a phone so they could talk. Maybe Lan Zhan could visit him.
Wei Ying stole away into the night, not then aware of what else he was taking away with him. He wouldn’t know for another four months the gift Lan Zhan had given him, growing inside him. He also didn’t know that he would never get any replies back from his letters to Lan Zhan.
Thirteen years after Wei Ying received no response to his letters about their son, he meets Lan Zhan again.

There's a beat of silence, then Wei Ying looks at him. Really looks. He lifts an eyebrow. "So, you came out here because you were worried about me?"
Lan Zhan spins on his heel, traitorous pulse thundering in his ears. "Who's worried about somebody as shameless as you?"
Wei Ying snickers, poking Lan Zhan, waiting for the moment when he lashes out again.
If only Lan Zhan had known the true depths of his hubris.

"Tell Lan Zhan that I'm weeping uncontrollably," Wei Wuxian says to the juniors. "Tell him I'm truly pitiful and he needs to do everything I say until I'm well again."
Lan Congyi is in the middle of carefully holding his eyelids open to check his pupils, but he still obeys, bless him. "Hanguang-Jun, Senior Wei would like us to tell you that he can't stop crying and he'd like for you to do everything he says until he's better." There's a moment of silence, and then Lan Congyi says to Wei Wuxian, "Hanguang-Jun says he already does everything you tell him."
