He had plans for the night, reuniting with his beautiful lover in the way they always do, in the form where he felt the most human—the most normal.
“A-Are you sure?” he asks, wincing at the way his voice stutters.
Mydei has seen him—the golden cracks, the ugliness, the hatred. Yet, even after everything, even after knowing the truth, he still chooses to stay by his side.
Phainon, ever the dutiful husband, worships his pregnant wife and learns what it means to love and be loved.

Nevertheless, if anyone in Amphoreus ever did find themselves on the receiving end of Phainon’s actual wrath, and unless they shared Mydei’s gift of immortality, they probably wouldn’t live to see the next Entry Hour. Probably wouldn't want to either.

The boy was a liability, and now, every day he would disappear, up into the mountains of the prefecture they were in, in the middle of winter with Demons supposedly about.
