There’s a great many things that Soap enjoys about life in the tower: it’s quiet, he has all the time in the world to dedicate to his own pursuits, his friends visit on occasion, and he has all the fresh fruits and meat he could ever possibly want right at his fingertips. Granted he had those back at the castle and on top of that he didn’t have to cook them himself, but he finds that he quite likes cooking, it’s a great deal like alchemy when all is said and done

Summary
Soap blows in like a lightning storm over the prairie, all bombastic Scottish charm and crackling smiles. He’s already established himself as a localized sensation by the time he ends up falling ass over head into the Regional Rodeo, sponsored and hosted by the boys over at 141 Acres. Like most of his kind, Soap lives the life of a decently paid vagabond. Drifting cross country during rodeo season, living lean in between each new prize purse. But the night is young, the crowd is alive and he’s found himself staring down the mean old bastard he’s supposed to ride tonight.

Simon Riley is dying.
He’s not accepted it yet, but it’s a matter of time; every pulse of blood oozing through his fingers is so many precious seconds draining out of his future. It feels almost comical, after all that he’s been through and done at the hands of rich men and cowards, marched hell into lands of people who never knew he existed until he brought ruin and chaos upon their peace. His life authored by depraved gods with only the goal of pain in mind. Simon doesn’t often think much on the deep unfairness of his life, doesn’t have the time between waking up and going back to sleep. The deep gash in his gut doesn’t care much for his ideals of inequity though, indeed it would seem whatever gods still looked over his life had decided that spiting the grave once was all he was allotted.Or: A dying soldier pledges his life to a fae completely by accident and he ends up with more than he bargained his soul for.

Summary
Ghost isn’t a fool, he knows what a familiar is (knows where babies come from too, if that’ll earn him a gold star). He understands the concept and the execution of it, even dabbled in the magical theory behind it when he was starting out. What he doesn’t know, frustratingly enough, is for what reason under the sun there is one perched merrily in his garden.
Or Ghost comes to terms with the familiar that he didn't want but definitely wanted him.

Summary
“Another involuntary shiver courses its way through his body, his hands starting to shake. He tries to force them still, raising his gun, ready to fire. Sure enough, out of the shadows emerges a creature, standing at attention, instantly stilling as its eyes focus in on the rifle in Ghost’s hands.”
Ghost gets separated from the team during a mission, injured and stuck out in the woods after nightfall. He soon realizes he’s not alone, and that his company isn’t of the human variety. What he finds—or, rather, what finds him—is something he never could have expected.
