Summary
Ah, yes that is the sound of Chuuya’s footsteps coming down the stairs that Dazai cannot see. He’d recognize that walking pattern anywhere.
Even while drugged and half dead, Dazai puts a performative grin on his face, fully expecting some snide remark from Chuuya as he turns the corner where he can see into the cell Dazai is in.
Dazai watches in amusement as Chuuya freezes upon his vibrant blue eyes falling upon Dazai, and the bandaged man grins wider.
Now, all Dazai has to do is get his mouth to function well enough to request Chuuya’s assistance in breaking the manacles. Not that he really needs the help. Yeah, it would speed up his break out, but if Chuuya is in a pissy mood, he’ll make do and break out on his own.
Dazai is not expecting what happens next.

In which BEAST Nakahara Chuuya shows up in a universe where Dazai is alive, and makes it his mission to claim this Dazai as his own, the current Chuuya be damned.

Dazai felt his heart break with each jab that came his way. He had trusted Kunikida as his partner and considered him as a close friend. The same man who now held him by his collar and was accusing him of things that weren’t fully true. Still, he tried his best to keep the smile on his face from waning, from showing anything was wrong.
“You don’t know me at all, so don’t act like you do.”

All these scars are healed and closed up, representing his recovery in self-harm, he doesn’t think his work-colleague his call him out and ridicule him for not wearing his bandages for a day? Plus, if he’s being honest he’s tired of having to rap himself up every day when he has nothing to hide anymore. In the beginning he was ashamed, but he’d learn to live with the damage he caused and the trauma he lived, so he thinks he’ll be fine today.
