Summary
This is to say that he’s sitting at the bartop, nursing an eggnog and half-listening to the convoluted story Fak is yelling into his ear, and just absolutely staring at Sydney from across the room. She’s with Sugar, watching karaoke and eating one of the ricotta and roasted grape crostinis he made earlier today (they really should’ve hired a caterer). She’s nodding, eyes wide at whatever Nat tells her and Carmy irrationally decides it must be some dig at him- it’s not a totally far-fetched notion.
Her arms are bare, a rare sight, and it feels stupidly scandalous.

She’s trying not to notice him.
She really is- she’s trying to enjoy the karaoke and the hors d'oeuvres and the story Natalie’s telling her. But Sydney can feel Carmy’s eyes on her from across the room like a sixth sense and it’s really fucking distracting. It’s becoming an issue really, the staring. Sydney can’t tell if he’s really that obvious about it or if she’s just hyper aware of everything he does (either is equally likely)- but whatever the case, she can feel his eyes like strobe lights on her back as she bites into her crostini.Series

Summary
Carmy has always avoided therapy. So afraid to go. Scared to prod at unhealed wounds. and to unearth more emotional baggage that he's quite frankly too tired to tend to.
Anyway, he had figured that equilibrium would find him eventually. His fucked state had always been his normal. Everyone had their issues. And yeah, his family came with a lot more than the standard bunch, but fuck it. It was just up to him to figure it out. It’s like a bouillon cube. If you pop it in your mouth, you’ll find it so salty and concentrated you can’t even swallow it. You need to add water to break up all its components- alter it, to find the “sweet spot”- that perfect balance of flavors. So, that’s what he figured he’d do. He’d dilute all those experiences down into something palatable.
But, actually, he’s realizing way too late that he’s a stock in a scalding hot pot. Heat was the culprit all along, messing up the flavors, concentrating and condensing them into something vile and inedible. Now the heat’s threatening to scald it to nothingness.
He’s tried a lot to control the stock from within, but that won’t move him from off the hot eye.
Therapy, he's guessing, is the only viable option.

Summary
Months after Syd left The Bear, she owes one last favor to Cicero. Roped into it before she handed in her notice, she has one last event to cater with Carmy. After a tense evening, Carmy and Syd are in the middle of cleanup. Hauling things down the service elevator, they get stuck. After talking with an unhelpful attendant, they figure out that they're in for a long wait. And things between them? They're bad.

Summary
Things at The Bear are fine after Carmy left months ago to find himself. Good, even. Syd is doing fine. She isn't talking to him, because that's how she wanted it. She asked him to go ahead and leave, which he did. It's good. She just doesn't want to hear Carmy updates from anyone, ok?
She also needs a break, right? She has a few days off, and she's definitely just going to Boston to eat seafood, walk around, and have lunch with distant cousins she doesn't even really like. There's no other reason. It's certainly not because she overheard that a certain chef is there, working on houses.
What happens when Syd finds out that Carmy has worn one of her scarves every day for the entire time he's been gone?
