Summary
His body hit the ground hard. The bag full of cans barely softened his fall and only managed to make it louder. Metal clanging echoed over the stone bridge they wanted to cross. Immediately, he felt everyone’s eyes on him. Sharp pain stung in his knees. His blood froze just as his limbs did. All he could do was stare at his friend a few feet ahead of him. Despite his better judgment, his friend called out.
“HONGJOONG!”
Hongjoong didn’t dare look back. He knew what awaited him. All he could do was wait. From all around him, people started running. He could hear their deranged mumbling coming closer and closer. Someone grabbed his arm, and he flinched back. Only to realize it was his friend hoisting him up. Before he knew it, he was standing again.
“RUN!”

Summary
Naðrfold, a small colony tucked away in a giant cave system was known for offering refuge to those in need. They had been growing and thriving for years, nobody outside knowing exactly where they were, until merchants started avoiding their regular routes and nearby colonies raised their defenses. Villages were left in ruins with no survivors. An unknown force was on the rise. The colony needed help.
Tore, a lumberjack, who thought he was content in his daily routines, volunteers to become a scout and defend the colony. Sounds simple right? If only he hadn't gotten assigned the most annoying teacher he could have wished for. Eirik, on the other hand, was finally having some fun on his job, getting under the newbie's skin.
However, once they find strange symbols all over a burned-down village, Eirik experiences strange nightmares and intrusive thoughts that start to slowly consume him.

Summary
Chester faces Matt, whiter than a winter sky, eyes wide and glazed. Then, they narrow, troubled, like he's trying to remember something.
His next breath catches in his throat. His hand opens, fumbling, dropping the bucket of fish. It dumps over. The water splashes their boots, the dead fish sloshing along with it, the light glinting from their scales, as Chester's hand rises to his chest. Matt's gaze darts there where a scarlet patch blossoms in the front of his flannel, as he pats there blindly, like he can cover the bullet hole with his palm. His knee buckles, bad leg skewing out from under him.
Matt lunges forward to catch him. "Chester!" A hand flies to his back, where the bullet entered, and his front, pressing where it exited, holding him together as he eases him to the ground.
Gun thunder roars in his ears. As he cradles Chester's lean body between two broad hands, he doesn't think it will ever quiet again.
