Summary
Separation was a rite of passage, something to be proud of. The bond between Kree and daemon was sacred, but it was also weakness; having your daemon by your side night and day painted a target on the both of you, whereas allowing them to travel away from you not only shrank the target, but gave you strategic advantage over your enemies.
At the end of it, though, they don't feel proud; they just feels tired, and sore, and a little sick.

She’d heard that name a lot lately – from metal-head, the Broker, Gamora and everyone in the kiln – and Peta had half a mind to punch him in the dick if they ever met, because if it wasn’t for him, she would’ve sold this stupid thing to the Broker days ago.

the ravager not so subtly turned her stool to look Ronan up and down. After several moments of her blatant staring he let out a barely audible huff and gave her a glare that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Can I help you with something?”
She tilted her head, biting her lower lip. “Just admiring the view.”
Normally he would have responded with something along the lines of ‘if you’d like to keep your eyes I suggest you find something else to admire.’
What came out instead was “And how is the view?”
