He swallowed hard.
“Talking about the demise of a friendship made me think about my own interpersonal relationships, and I can’t say for sure if anyone outside of my team would even call me a good friend. If they’re even allowed to. Not sure if anyone could ever…”He stumbled over his words a bit before trailing off, rubbing his fingers through his short cropped hair before resting his forehead against his palms.
“Could ever what, sir?” you leaned forward in your chair and watched him. He looked uncomfortable, anxious almost.
“Love me.”
