Summary
After the incident in the catacombs, Ominis can't bring himself to speak to Sebastian any longer. He cuts ties altogether and learns how to go about his routine while pretending Sebastian no longer exists. That works for a while, until seventh year.
Unfortunately, when Professor Shah pairs them up for an assignment, Ominis has no choice but to speak to him again.
Ominis doesn't trust him any longer but he can't deny that Sebastian seems different, almost like the version of himself that was Ominis's best friend before the dark arts took him away.
Gradually, Ominis begins to think their friendship - and maybe a deeper relationship - might not be beyond saving.

Summary
The feeling of spikes along his spine was unbearable, a protruding pain that ached through his back and around his ribs with the change of his bones. The spikes had begun at the base of his neck, nestled between his scapula and down to the base of his tailbone. It was more painful than anything he had ever felt, but he gritted his teeth, fangs bared at the monster staring back in the mirror. He had never felt like less of a human than in that moment.
The thick, pointed tail that had slithered from his lower back had now wrapped around his hip. It was so foreign, so wrong, just like everything else about his monster form. He detested it, his eyes burning with the fire of his hatred - his disgust. He shouldn't have ended up like this.
But he had.
10's daunting laugh bounced around in his head like a nightmare, "We're going to have so much fun."
