Summary
“Buff! You—! You’re a—!” Xander stammered. He was sweating through his clothes, his violent shaking even worse than her own. One hand was wrapped around the backdoor handle, ready to bolt out into the early morning sun at the slightest jerk toward him. He never once took his eyes off her. She could still smell the heady sting of his fear permeating the air around them, hear his thundering heart and feel the rhythm pulsing through her like a drumbeat. Her mouth watered beyond her will.
“Vampire,” Willow finished breathlessly.
And Buffy burst into tears.

Buffy gets unlucky one night on patrol. Not a one of them know what to do next, but that's not unusual for their lot, anyway. They'll figure it out.

Summary
“Can’t even vampire right,” Buffy voices this time, instead of just keeping it to herself, and he scowls.
“Piss off,” Spike snaps, now in a right little snit at her over the silent comparisons he was clearly hearing even when she did not say. Still, he stays staunchly seated, making no effort to leave despite his sudden mood. She wonders if rolling her eyes again would be too soon to have any effect.
And then, inexplicably, her vision turns blurry with tears — though literally nothing has happened — and rolling her eyes suddenly seems like the worst idea in the world.

though tara knows that’s an uncharitable take on how buffy’s been handling everything. she was just trying to make them feel better about the awful, awful thing they’d done, like they deserved to be mollified. she was trying to convince willow and xander in particular that she was still their buffy from before... the... fall. the resurrection.
you can’t mean that, tara says. you— you really want to forget? you’d let willow do that to you?
no, buffy amends quickly. I don’t. and I wouldn’t. I just... then she sighs, more than world weary. aching for a dimension she can’t reach anymore.

Summary
Buffy's mom is dating this new guy, Ted. He's nice, polite, and has a good job. He also has a tendency to fly into uncontrollable fits of rage whenever Buffy does something he doesn't like. Everything in Buffy's life feels like it's falling apart and Buffy has no power to stop it. All she can do is hide out in the library with her sister so that they don't have to spend any more time at home with Ted than they already do.
Faith's living with Ms. Calendar. She took her in after Faith ran away from home. Ms. Calendar is dating a new guy, the school librarian. He's British and fancy and seems nice enough but Faith doesn't trust him. She knows from experience—years of having to put up with her mom's shitty boyfriends—that even the nicest seeming guys could be putting up a front. Ms. Calendar may be a smart lady, but Faith knows that she doesn't have the experience Faith has at identifying creeps. So she's going to make sure this guy's safe. And if it means hanging out in the library, the place where Buffy Summers, the hottest girl Faith has ever laid eyes upon, seems to basically be living in nowadays, well, that's just an unexpected perk.

He can say with completely confidence, that as he walked in to biology, a class that usually made his insides crawl with all manner of prickly disgusted feelings, he was thinking of nothing else but of how smart and cool he felt reassuring Willow that there was nothing to worry about.
He could honestly say he had forgotten he was trans until the sudden chill of cranked up early September air conditioning hit his shoulders and he realized something was very wrong.

Summary
Out of all individual Buffy episodes, the most frequently fanfic’ed is Halloween. Of those fanfics, a lot of them turn Xander into a girl and then just have Xander ‘get used to it’ with no further explanation. Whiiiiich seems a little problematic. Still, it’s worth considering:
How would the series actually change if Xander was trans the whole time?
I’ve read a few ‘what if Buffy was trans’ fics, and a couple ‘what if Faith was trans’ fics, but I haven’t actually seen many (or any) fanfics that explore the Xander option.
Xander is very insecure about his manliness. Very insecure. This is a story about one possible reason.
So, Halloween will be a catalyst for this fic, but it’s not where it starts.

Summary
A look into what made made Xander who he is in BtVS. Specifically focusing the home life and emotional states of Xander Harris.
Xander has always been an important character to me because of how broken he is yet still continues to try and do what he thinks is right. This story is about Xander and his struggle to accept that family doesn't always have your best interests in mind.
