I've read a lot of fics where Harry Potter travels back through time and then has to make Tom Riddle fall in love with him–I wanted to switch it up.
Tom Riddle discards the idea of of making horcruxes when he realizes there is an easier option: make the Master of Death fall in love with him. Easy right? There are just a few problems. Featuring: love advice from the Knights of Walpurgis, shenanigans and manipulations, and a very confused Harry Potter.

It was frustrating, to just be sitting here and waiting for things to fall into place, but isn’t it what he had always done? He had always waited for other people – wiser people, more experienced and powerful people, to move the pieces for him and trap him in check, only for Harry himself to wiggle out at the last moment and continue the game down to the last piece. He had sat there and watched while more powerful men than him pulled the strings.
No more of that. It was time he took the reins.Or: Apparently, being the Master of Death has it perks. After dying Harry gets offered the chance to go back in time and change things by Death itself. After defeating Quirrell with the help of the greatest-pain-in-the-ass-of-all-time Merlin himself, Harry had much time to practice and make a few plans at the Dursley's. Only for him to realise, that plans are kind of overrated anyway.
