After kingslanding is destroyed by y dragon queen, Sansa asks tyrion to look for Sandor in the wreckage and send him north to serve her. Tyrion finds a badly injured Sandor in the rubble on top of Gregor's dead body. He is slowly nursed back to health, more scarred than before.

Sandor has always admired Sansa from afar, knowing that she's far above his station and initially far too young for him. As time passes, they're drawn first into an unlikely friendship and then a full on relationship.
