Summary
“You can take them off,” Hiroaki mumbled suddenly, fidgeting with his hands, like he was deciding whether or not he should take his glasses off himself, if Ojima didn't do it soon. He could feel Hiroaki’s eye twitch beneath his thumb.
“No,” Ojima said firmly, and he saw (and felt) Hiroaki’s eyebrows raise and his eyes widen.
“Huh?”
“You said you were gonna show me what your eyes look like when we get out of here. I'm waiting for then,” Ojima responded, and it was mostly true—part of him did earnestly want to wait until Hiroaki himself was ready, for him to remove his red tinted sunglasses with his own hands, but another part of Ojima just couldn’t handle it now. He couldn't handle seeing Hiroaki’s tear-stained eyes, dull and devoid of life, a swirling storm of contempt and despair and pain. He couldn’t do it, because Ojima knew, for as long as he wore them, those eyes would be the only thing he would be able to imagine behind Hiroaki’s glasses. And Ojima couldn't bear it.
OR: Five times Ojima accidentally or almost saw behind Hiroaki’s sunglasses, and the first time he was allowed to.

Summary
On his worst days, Akira texts him.
Discreetly, when Morgana’s not looking, because Akira hates the pitying stare he receives in return—the soft, concerned call of his name with a hint of a warning, a lecture Morgana only sometimes leaves unsaid.
Akira often wonders what became of Akechi’s smartphone. If it was sealed in an evidence bag at some station back in Tokyo, or abandoned in Akechi’s old apartment, or tossed in the trash when no one came to collect his belongings. Or maybe Akechi had his phone on him when he entered the Metaverse and never returned, his phone buried in the collapsed wreckage of Shido’s palace, sunken to the bottom of a cognitive sea.
Regardless, none of Akira’s messages ever go through. All he receives is the same, automated text:We’re sorry, you’ve reached a number that has been disconnected
or is no longer in service.Bookmarked by Akirennui

Summary
“It cannot be easy to turn a blade on a friend.”
“Not if they turn it on you first!” The retort, though immediate, is followed by a considering pause, ostensibly to polish off the remaining Mora meat. “...then again, I don’t have any experience in such matters. I’d turn it on xiansheng, if it meant you’d finally use that Vision of yours!”
“To strike fatally?”
“Goodness,” Childe says, the innocence in his expression so sweet Zhongli thinks he will feel it in his teeth for days, “Just what sort of man do you take me for?”
The same as me, Zhongli is saved from confessing by the storm breaking.
(or: an untimely storm raging through the Harbor results in Childe staying the night at Zhongli's.)

Summary
“What if,” Akira says, “What if I’m not part of their lives because I was never supposed to be.”
“Well, for someone who supposedly had such a soft spot for you, that would be a rather mean-spirited move for Maruki to pull,” Akechi says.
“He brought back Futaba’s mom and Haru’s dad,” Akira says. “Who says he couldn’t have–”
“You were here before January first,” Akechi interrupts. “I think that’s evidence.”
But what if it’s not, Akira thinks. What if I’m the same as them.
