That was up until he got fired for illegal underground fighting. With no hope of getting work anywhere after that, Eddie's stuck in the ring. He just has to keep fighting. Fighting divorce, fighting his emotions, fighting himself.
Till one day when the warehouse caught fire and he met the most annoying firefighter.

More of an AU than a Canon Divergence. Majority of the cast felt rather OOC, especially Eddie's parents and to a degree, Eddie himself.
Reading this can feel a bit jarring for long-time Buddie/911 readers, so be open-minded and treat this as an AU where Eddie has some of Buck's personality, Buck being the best fake-boyfriend ever(Confident!Buck hell yes!) and the Diaz parents are(thankfully) not as bad as in canon.

“How’d you—” He began, then frowned when he saw that BT was still staring unblinkingly at him. “Uh, how’d you do these kinds of long runs with Lastimosa?”
“He slept in the cockpit when required,” BT replied. There was no discernible change in the titan’s tone, but his gaze flicked towards the ground. “It is more efficient than taking breaks, but he was also reluctant to do so at first. He told me it was more difficult to sleep when linked with me.”
BT and Jack are both still trying to figure this pilot thing out.
