She moved swiftly down the hall, course set for Caleb's cell. She only had about ten hours before the team of guards and engineers would arrive and sweep the place. She needed to get all five men out by then, or they'd be thoroughly screwed. If people found out she was freeing prisoners, they'd lock her up and throw away the key, rather than attempt to find out why, never mind let her anywhere near the title of Warden again.
Outside the door, she took a deep breath, steadying herself and attempting to prepare herself for whatever she may find inside. Caleb, of course, and the corpse of the woman who had assaulted him, but what version of Caleb would he be? The insane prisoner? The violent captive? Was it foolish to hope for her Caleb? That at least one part of this hellish mission would be easy?
Probably. Definitely. Still, she had to bring him back to himself, no matter what - or who - she found on the other side of the door. Caleb deserved all of that and more.
She pulled one of her guns from its holster and unlocked the door.
