Koschei gapes in horror and confusion, an inviting combination if she has ever seen one.
“You have companions now?”
Theta smiles. It was worth getting them just to see that look on his face. Not that it wouldn’t have been worth getting them either way, her three little ducks: Graham, whose grief makes him delightfully mad some days, Ryan, so desperate to prove himself, so righteous in his endeavours and Yaz. Oh, Yaz. She had thought that one would be the hardest to crack, but that challenge has solved itself in the most delightful way.
“You like them?”, she asks Koschei, who is currently on his knees in front of her, gesturing to her humans. “I thought since you had companions all the time, it was high time I checked out what all the hype is about.” She leans down to him, lowers her voice to a conspirational whisper. “I call them The Fam.”
