Nearly Christmas and we’re all freezing our arses off in the trench. I’m sorry I haven’t written. It’s been hell out here. Though I don’t intend to send this letter anyhow. Wouldn’t want to be caught dead sending a letter to a German, even if that German was a close friend! They might censor the entire letter. Wouldn’t that be something?(Aka I finally answer the question “Fellas is it gay to write letters to your close friend/former football teammate who is fighting on the opposite side of a war and then burn them with a candle in the dead of night so you don’t get arrested for treason but keep one of them in your chest pocket at all times because you couldn’t bear to burn it?” The answer is Yes.
