TIME TRAVEL — Time Travel where everything stays the same. Voldemort and Harry gets sent back in 1943. Harry goes to Hogwarts, meets a young Tom Riddle he doesn’t interact with all that much, and Voldemort gets himself a better body. The two do inevitably meet and their soul connection is explode. Lots of timey-wimey stuff.
THOUGHTS — An interesting read! Very well written, don’t have any complaints about that. The writing is clean and engaging, kudos for that! I did find the pacing a bit weird and jump, buts to be expected from a time travel story like this, I suppose. Plot is very interesting. One of the most unique time travel fics back to 1940s that I’ve read. Mostly because this operates on the basis of time turner dynamics, like in Prizoner of Azakaban (what you do in the past already happens so nothing changes in the canon-end.) characters are very nicely portrayed as well. well, perhaps not nicely lol. This gets very dark at times. But it is extremely accurate! Best read it as a time travel fic though. Because while there is romance, I wouldn’t say it’s the focus. Or rather, the build up to the romance is nice, but it kind of just jumps from 20-100 very quickly on the end (again, mostly to do with pacing and the whole chicken vs egg problem.) overall, fun read. Would definitely read again someday.

EARLY DIVERGENCE with AU ELEMENTS — Harry is dragged off to a different dimension at a very young age. One where grows up as a slave taught the darkest of Magics. It’s not a very happy life, and just like in the canon world, he’s forced to do things and learn things a child his age really shouldn’t have to. With Necromancy on his side, he at least has the ghost of his parents (and other relatives) on his side. They help him learn how to protect himself.
The story actually starts decades after all this though. He’s been summoned back to Hogwarts for the TriWizard Tournament. Everyone is expecting him to be 14. He’s not. Everyone is also expecting Tom to be insane and/or dead. He’s not (he’s managed to recover his body without Harry around to ruin his plans). Now it’s a matter of Harry making something out of his life here, which involves fixing certain things, creating his own country, and befriending Voldemort.
[Mostly GEN so far. Slow Burn kind of fic, romance is not the focus. Dead Dove: Do Not Eat. This has some pretty dark themes, not entirely explicit, but not subtle either. So be careful of that!]
THOUGHTS — Great read, fav even! I avoided this fic for a while because I really had no idea what to expect. I bookmarked it just in case tho. Anyway, I’m glad I waited a bit! This is quite the slow paced story, and mostly plot-driven (or worldbuilding driven perhaps?) so far. So yeah, having more of it to read was a relief!
Anyway, what I like most about this is definitely the worldbuilding elements (which is good, since this story is mostly that!). The author certainly didn’t shy away from adding original elements into the story to add excitement back to the HP universe and create this new Tomarry dynamic. It’s a lot of fun! Harry and Tom are not quite their canon counterparts anymore. Harry is too old for that, no longer naive and quite cold besides. And Tom is a lot saner (though recognizably still his stubborn dark self). But their OOCness doesn’t bother me because its explained properly (just like their general OP-ness).
All in all? I’m looking forward to reading this again. I think I’ll wait a bit before doing so. This really is quite a wide-arching story. There’s lots to remember. So I’d want to reread it before catching any updates. But I’ll certainly keep an eye on it either way!

Wei Wuxian barely makes a sound when Jin Zixun’s sword goes through his chest. A tiny noise is punched out of him — half gasp, half sigh. Jin Zixun, wearing that smirk that Lan Wangji has always hated, moves to pull the sword out.
This won’t do; Lan Wangji knows enough about battlefield medicine to understand the principle of keeping the weapon in the wound until a medic arrives. So he does the only thing that occurs to him in the moment, letting the momentum of flight be the force behind the swing; he cuts off Jin Zixun’s hand.

Lan Wangji goes with Wei Wuxian to his nephew's one-month celebration instead of Wen Ning. They still don't make it to the party.

MAJOR CANON DIVERGENCE -- As is stated in the summary. It's LWJ that goes with WWX to Jin Ling's first year anniversary. Because of this, WWX has more to protect him than just his demonic cultivation (which leads to him not losing control). But, it also means that he ends up getting stabbed in the chest. And, in the intervening days of his recovery, LWJ goes on to show exactly how much he cares for him.
[Short, but sweet! Romance-centric. Golden Core reveal! Fix-it elements, but not entirely a fix-it. Happens in "The Past" era. Angst Level 2. It's sad at times, but nothing too hard-hitting.]
THOUGHTS -- Great read! not sure what I was expecting at first, but it's very well done! It's a healing kind of fic. It doesn't fix all the problems, but Wangxian overcomes! Would definitely read it again!
